Ostara celebrations

In less than one week's time, we'll reach the Spring Equinox. I'm very excited for the season to turn - and I don't think I'm alone in my feelings, everyone seems to be welcoming back the sunshine and warmth with open arms.

At Spring Equinox the Pagan sabbat of Ostara is celebrated, it is a time of renewal & rebirth which is honoured through ritual. 

During the Ostara sabbat (Thursday, 20th March 2025). witches celebrate the return of the sun & marvel at the new life surrounding us in springtime. We mirror nature by focusing on growth in our lives - we hatch new ideas and eagerly await them coming to life.

Ostara is an opportune time to consider what growth we'd like to see taking place in the year ahead. To nurture the ideas we began manifesting during Imbolc & look brightly & hopefully towards the future. Have a think! What is it that you would like to plant now, build upon during Litha in summertime to bring to fruition and enjoy come Lammas & Autumn Equinox at harvest time?

Here are few things you can do to mark Ostara:

Spring cleaning
Spend a whole day freshening your home ready for Spring.

Baking
specially with eggs and dairy produce.

Decorate to honour the season
Some of my favourites at this time of year include daffodils, tulips, hawthorn if you have hedges to prune, displays with speckled eggs, nest like objects such as fallen twigs and Ostara iconography such as photos, artworks or statues of things like hares, chicks, eggs etc.

Journaling
Record the hopes and dreams you have for the upcoming summer.
